Eggfruit (aka. eggplant, aubergine)

Melon thrips (Thrips palmi) is a pest of fruit and vegetables in south east Asia, Japan, Florida and the Caribbean. It can cause stunting of susceptible plants and deformation of fruits, when its normal biological control is disturbed.

Emerging plant pests - Spiraling whitefly
Spiraling whitefly (Aleurodicus dispersus) is a serious pest of many horticultural crops, and also of an extensive range of ornamentals and shade trees.

Grafting eggfruit to control bacterial wilt
Bacterial wilt is a major disease problem of eggfruit in some areas, and can make eggfruit production uneconomical. One solution to this problem in smaller production areas may be grafting onto a resistant rootstock.
