Mango information kit

The mango kit (1998) is written for commercial growers, horticultural and pest management consultants / suppliers, tertiary and high school students and hobby farmers in Queensland.

The information is primarily for Queensland but would be useful for growers in other states including Western Australia and the Northern Territory. The main topics covered are:

Before you start - includes an introduction to the industry and  information on equipment and labour.

Common questions - answers to 30 commonly asked questions including what varieties to plant, growing, fertilising, irrigation, spraying, disease, tree management, postharvest and marketing.

Growing the crop - includes setting up an orchard, preparation of land, drainage, irrigation systems, selecting varieties, planting, fertilising, shaping, weed control and mulching, pest and disease management, fruit disorders, pruning and canopy management, growth regulators, harvesting, ripening, packing, marketing, quality management.

Key issues - detailed information on important business and management decisions, propagation, varieties, irrigation management, nutrition, controlled ripening, marketing, exporting and a 4 page colour variety selector.

Problem solver - colour photos of common problems associated with leaves, trees, trunks, branches and fruit as well as recommended solutions.
