Moving plants, plant products and related items
Moving plants, products or related risk items such as soil and machinery from one area to another can introduce or spread pests and diseases. To prevent or limit this spread in Australia, quarantine restrictions have been imposed on the movement of risk items out of infested areas.
Effective quarantine is an important tool in maintaining Australia's reputation for safe agricultural products and to preserve the health and viability of our farming areas. The introduction of a new pest into a previously uninfested area can disrupt the whole production and marketing cycle, and heavily impact on producers and the regional communities they depend on.

Moving plants, plant products and related items into or out of Queensland internationally
Quarantine requirements vary between countries. People intending to import or export produce or stock should contact their local Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) office for requirements. Please consult your local Telstra White Pages telephone directory or the AQIS Brisbane office on +61 7 3246 8755 or the AQIS website at www.aqis.gov.au
Certification requirements for movement
Usually some form of certification is required to move a plant, plant that is restricted under quarantine measures. Under the Interstate Certification Assurance (ICA) Scheme a business can become accredited to certify that plants consigned to intra or interstate markets meet specified quarantine requirements. Alternatively, plants and their products can be certified by a DPI&F inspector. Government inspection and accreditation under the ICA Scheme are provided on a fee-for-service basis.
For international certification requirements contact AQIS.
