2008 schedule for funding proposals to FRDC for 2009/10

QFIRAC's operations are linked with FRDC's annual competitive funding cycle that culminates in the submission of R&D applications on 1st November each year.

QFIRAC meets up to four times per year. Each meeting generally lasts one day:

Date Task/Event Duration
March 18 QFIRAC meeting to identify R&D priorities 1 day
Early April QFIRAC finalises updated R&D Plan and priorities out-of-session
14 April Call for preliminary proposals to R&D providers
14 April - 2 June R&D providers prepare preliminary proposals and submit on Fish net 8 weeks
Fri 13 June Deadline for preliminary proposals to FRDC
14 - 16 June Secretary collates preliminary proposals 3 days
16 June Secretary posts or emails preliminary proposals to members 1 day
17 June - 14 July Members consider preliminary proposals 4½ weeks
15 July Secretary prepares feedback letters to all proponents. Proponents whose proposals are rated in the top 12 or so will be invited to submit full draft FRDC applications. 4 days
21 July Secretary posts or e-mails feedback to all research providers, with invitations to those whose proposals were rated highly 1 day
22 July - 4 September Selected research providers prepare draft FRDC applications. 6 weeks
5 September Deadline for invited research providers to submit draft FRDC applications.
6 - 9 September Members consider draft FRDC applications 3 weeks
7 October QFIRAC meeting.Invited applicants make presentations and feedback provided to applicants. Applications assessed and advice provided to FRDC on their priority ranking. 1 day
8 October - 31 October Research providers finalise FRDC applications. 3 weeks
1 November Deadline for applications to FRDC
2 December QFIRAC considers FRDC applications for 2009/10 funding that have a flow of benefit to Queensland, and to consider a process to review the R&D Strategic Plan and Priorities
