The committee members are representatives nominated by the main industry stakeholders:
- Commercial fishing
- Recreational fishing
- Aquaculture
- Seafood processing / marketing
- Resource management agencies - Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries and the GBRMPA (Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority)
- the conservation sector
- the indigenous sector
Senior officers from the FRDC attend meetings as observers, and the meetings are Chaired by an independent person.
The DPI&F provides secretarial support.
