Creating this storybook requires a good understanding of the key issues associated
with pest fish. These include:
- reasons for their introduction to Australia
- displacement of indigenous fish species
- increased turbidity in streams affecting stream ecology
- successful reproductive strategies.
Working scientifically

- Students study the structure of a short book suitable to be read to young
children up to nine years of age (e.g. Mahogany the mystery glider,
by J Morris & Sharon Dye, Mahogany Qld, Greater Glider Productions).
- Students use information encountered during the module to select suitable
material for a 10-page storybook. A suitable balance of text and illustrations
should be used.
