North West Region seasonal forecasts


The forecasts will be updated by the 6th working day of each month.


The forecasts

The forecasts are for the summer period (November to March) and are presented as a % chance of exceeding median rainfall or pasture growth over summer.

What is the median rainfall and pasture growth for November to March in your region?

It is important to think about what the forecast means. For example if there is a 70% chance of exceeding median rainfall or pasture growth for a particular location, there is also a 30% of not exceeding the median for the summer period.

What is Skill?

It is important to bear in mind that the further out you forecast for summer rainfall or pasture growth the lower the accuracy of the forecast. It is therefore important to take into account the skill map that is provided for each forecast. Examine the key for the skill map for each forecast to indicate which areas have skill.
