Who are the Smile Clan?

Hi Kids! We're the Smile Clan of animals. We are special helpers at the Animal Welfare Unit of the DPI&F (that's the Queensland government's Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries). Animal Welfare is about knowing how to care for animals.

The people who work in the Animal Welfare Unit help Queensland kids to understand why it's important to care properly for animals. We help the Animal Welfare Unit to do this.

When animals are cared for properly they Smile! Just like us. The Animal Welfare Unit has prepared some great Fact Sheets and posters with cool Smile Clan cartoons to help you to learn about the 5 Things you need to remember to Help an Animal Smile .

In the Smile Clan some of us are the kind of animals that you or your friends might have as a pet, or that you might help to care for if you live on a property. Patrick Parrot is a native animal and lives in the bush.

Catrina Cat and Dougal Dog are the leaders of the Smile Clan because lots of kids have cats and dogs.

Why are we always Smiling?

Well one reason is that we all have our teeth checked regularly by our vet and we like to show them off!!!

Another reason we Smile is that we are happy we live in Queensland where there is a great law about caring for animals. Is there a good animal care law where you live?

The main reason we Smile is that our carers (that's the people who look after us) care for us really well. Caring for animals is cool!

If you care properly for your animals, they'll Smile too.
